Helping me bridge the gap between Spoken Word Lyricist and Vocal Musician will be the very talented singer, song writer and guitarist Jem Tyler. Our first collaboration is called "Tree Mend Us". It is a personal track for me in that it touches on my connection with nature while reflecting on the apparent disconnect we have as a whole with our environment...
Jem first picked up a guitar at the age of six and has gone from strength to strength ever since. The skills and confidence gained along the way have enabled to him see much of the country while touring and performing publicly, on many occasions at the drop of a hat.
Mr Tyler grew up in Cornwall and moved to the city to cut his teeth as a musician. He has since built an international following by gigging in London, Germany and France. Jem comes to life during his live performance as there is no pretence or fakery, just pure enjoyment. This is the true nature of the man who is also involved with a performing arts charity that helps to engage young people in their community. Not satisfied with becoming a success himself Jem is equally inspired by helping others to do the same.
We can't wait to get this song finished, hopefully the first of many. Once complete the idea is to perform it in front of the general public in a street near you. Jem has a wealth of experience in this department so naturally it will be an honour and a privilege to learn from the great man. A vital step towards to truly hitting the road Jack.
"Relax, sit back and breathe,
I'm just trying to be me,
Slow and discreet,
Like the growth of a tree,
But unlike the sap,
That's trapped in the tree,
My soul is free,
To roam the heavens,
And the seven seas,
Mentally,
My road is deep,
Under lava flows,
And over snowy peeks,
It's hard to know,
Every soul that speaks,
Squeaks, crows and creeks,
But my heart is open,
To the flows that teach,
Beneath a frozen speech..."
